For these photos, i used Kruger's bold lettering, red background, contrasting images, and use of black and white hues. I also wanted to recreate her view on the world, status, etc. and add popular phrases and lyrics to spark a connection to society. I used such words like "Always Sunny in a rich man's world" from the musical Mama Mia!, "I am a Material girl" from the song Material Girl by Madonna. I also used references to some common phrases and icons like "knowledge is power" and "The New American Beauty" which refers to the popular movie "American Beauty" and also the cover of the movie displaying a girl covered only by rose petals. For my first photo, i used the phrase "Always Sunny in a rich man's world" to show much we glorify money and get so desperate that its something we strive for; wishing life was easy. Not only this, but women are subjected to feel that the only way to be happy is through a man and usually a rich one. This is shown by the money in the girl's mouth, showing people would do just about anything to be "happy", even "eat money". The next photo says "The New American Beauty" on a picture of a naked doll. Of course this shows how American's view beauty as nothing more but sexualized "plastic"; altered women to fit a mold in which they are being treated like dolls. The following picture, " I am a material girl" is written which is a popular lyric that people have sung countless times in an upbeat fashion and have even glorified it; but do they know the real meaning of what it means to be a "material" girl? by displaying plastic model with a dress and jewelry holders for arms and legs, it shows that it isn't a good thing. it shows how they are nothing but fake plastic models that don't even resemble a human.Next is "Knowledge is Power". Of course we've all heard this phrase, but i wanted to display the dangers of it. With more power comes greater responsibility, However people only listen to the first part of the phrase. Because knowledge is "power" people strive for it and go above and beyond creating new things and making discoveries. But now technology has completely run over our lives to the point that we DEPEND on technology, the world could never function right without it now. So i tried to convey the message that are WE the one's in power or is IT?
